Read on, there is also a link to the fabulous Spanish Christmas song, Feliz Navidad by José Feliciano. • Young children are music makers! They can be heard making music throughout their day, with vocal play, and experimenting with resources in their environment to create sound. • As adults, we can share in musical play with children, with song, rhyme and dance, in everyday moments, whether it be meal time, nappy time, sleep time, bath time or play time. • Research has shown that music contributes significantly to children’s development. Music contributes to communicationDr Amanda Niland (2015) says ...Music contributes to communication through: ** the rhythm and rhyme in songs and spoken rhymes. ** the repetition and slower pace of songs and rhymes than everyday speech, provides opportunities to practise and develop expressive language. ** the linking of words and actions, contributes to the understanding of the meaning of words.
